In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran on Sunday, visiting Omani Interior Minister Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi said the bilateral relations have reached a “premium level.” He also voiced the sultanate of Oman’s readiness to enhance relations with Iran in all fields. The Iranian minister, for his part, hailed Iran-Oman ties as a role model for the other countries. Addressing the 11th Silk Road Mayors Forum in the Iranian city of Qazvin on Saturday, Velayati underlined that the Islamic Republic has no problem with the benefits that revival of the Silk Road will bring for China. Silk Road revival will tu China into an economic power, which Iran approves of, though many other countries might oppose, he noted. Velayati explained that China will need energy security to make more headways, saying that energy is supplied to China through Iran and Central Asia in full security. Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Wednesday, Seyed Hossein Mirshojaeean Hosseini said that during the first five months of the current Iranian year (which began on March 20), the administration has approved $7 billion as foreign investment, $1.6bln to $1.7bln of which has been absorbed. Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Qassem Qaedi, crisis management coordinator in the southe province of Busheher, said firefighters have brought the fire under control. It had broken out at a waste storage tank in the 6th refinery unit of South Pars gas field’s phases 15 and 16. The firefighting operation is in good progress, he added, predicting that the blaze would be extinguished shortly. Five attackers armed with suicide vests, rifles and grenades have killed 18 people in the Iraqi town of Ain al-Tamer, southwest of Baghdad, local officials say. Local officials at the provincial health directorate confirmed the death toll in the attack, which occurred late on Sunday, and said at least 26 people were also wounded.
