Turkish tanks crossed into Syria Saturday, allegedly to support Syrian rebels against the Daesh (ISIL) terror group, Anadolu news agency said. Turkey launched a cross-border operation on Aug. 24 along with Free Syrian Army units in what Ankara claims is an attempt to clear the village of Jarablus of Daesh militants. Since then, rebels have been seizing villages along the Turkish border near Jarablus and the weste Cobanbey district from Daesh. The strikes near the town of Cukurca in a mountainous part of the border province of Hakkari come after a series of attacks launched by the PKK, which has fought a three-decade insurgency for Kurdish autonomy in southeaste Turkey, Reuters reported. Turkish military has frequently carried out airstrikes after a two-and-a-half-year ceasefire and peace process between the govement and the PKK broke down last summer. More than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict since the PKK - designated a "terrorist group" by Turkey, the US and the European Union - began its armed campaign in 1984. Turkey's military, NATO's second largest, has continued to grapple with the low-intensity conflict in the mainly Kurdish southeast as its senior ranks undergo a major shake-up following a July 15-16 failed coup attempt.  Bahram Qassemi was reacting to comments by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir who accused Tehran on Wednesday of “supplying weapons to Houthis” in Yemen and “destabilizing Arab countries”. “Saudi authorities are bogged down in a bloody quagmire of terrorism and massacre of innocent women and children in Yemen, Syria and Iraq as a result of their egregious strategic errors”, Qassemi said on Thursday. He urged the Saudis to reconsider their approaches toward the region instead of desperate cries and repeated bogus claims. "The euro-based settlement system for South Korea-Iran trade will start on Aug. 29," Yoo Il-ho said as cited by Yonhap news agency recently. "The opening of the system will help further promote bilateral trade and investment (between the two countries),” he added. The finance minister further said the country’s KEB Hana Bank, Shinhan Bank and Woori Bank will handle the euro-based payment system, which uses the euro as a medium of trade, which is widely preferred by Iranian companies. The euro-based payment system is expected to pave the way for Korean businesses to speed up $45.6 billion worth bilateral projects that have been sealed in May during President Park Geun-hye’s visit to Iran following the removal of anti-Tehran sanctions. The ministry said Agriculture Minister Achim Irimescu and Kuwaiti counterpart Ali Saleh Al-Omair sustained head injuries Thursday moing in southe Romania after the car they were traveling was involved in a collision with another car, AP reported.  The ministry said both ministers were conscious and not in any danger. An interpreter traveling in the same car also had minor injuries. The three are being treated at the County Hospital in Slobozia, close to where the crash occurred. A ministry spokesman said the armed forces were studying other basing options for six reconnaissance planes, a refueling plane and 250 soldiers if German lawmakers vote to end the use of the base over Ankara's refusal to allow them to visit, Reuters reported. Turkey in June denied lawmakers access to the base, angered by a German parliamentary resolution that branded the 1915 massacre of Armenians by Ottoman forces as genocide. Ties between the two NATO allies have also been strained by the thwarted coup in Turkey on July 15, with Ankara angry about what it called Germany's sluggish response in condemning the action. A parliamentary vote to end Germany's use of Incirlik could come as soon as next month, depending on whether Ankara allows lawmakers to visit the base in October as planned. Heading a parliamentary delegation, Phan Xuan Dung will arrive in the Iranian capital on August 25. The planned pipeline would connect Iran's vast gas reserves to Omani consumers as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants in Oman that would re-export the gas. After inteational sanctions on Tehran were lifted in January, the two countries renewed efforts to implement the project, but it has also been delayed by disagreements over price and US pressure on Muscat to find other suppliers. In an interview, Rumhy said Oman and Iran were at an advanced stage of designing the pipeline and had agreed on a deeper option than originally envisaged to avoid crossing any third country’s borders, Reuters reported.  “Instead of the shallower option at around 300 meters (985 feet) deep, the pipeline is to plunge close to 1,000 meters below the sea's surface.
