South Korea’s Ministry of Environment said in a recent statement that it has sent six public and private sector officials to meet with their Iranian counterparts and discuss opportunities for enhancement of trade ties between the two nations, Yonhap news agency reported.

The delegation is scheduled to hold talks with Head of Iran's Environmental Protection Organization (IEPO) Masoumeh Ebtekar during the visit, it added.

The South Korean representatives will exchange views with the Iranian official on details of a memorandum of understanding for environmental cooperation signed in May between Tehran and Seoul.

There has been growing interest in ties with Iran since Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached an agreement on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and started implementing it on January 16.

The agreement terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran.
